Viscose jersey is usually made in a single jersey knit. The knitted loop structure gives the fabric natural stretch, while viscose adds softness, moisture absorption and a cool touch. When elastane is added, the fabric gets better recovery and keeps its shape more easily during wear.
Compared with cotton jersey, viscose jersey usually drapes more fluidly and feels smoother against the skin. It can also be more sensitive when wet, so careful washing and drying are important. Viscose jersey can shrink, twist or stretch out if handled too harshly.
